Speech and Language Therapy
All of our speech and language therapy is provided by New York State Licensed Speech-Language Pathologists (TSSLD) who have been certified by ASHA - American Speech and Hearing AssociationSM (CCC-SLP). Our pathologists use a variety of evidence-based techniques and interventions to help our students improve their communication abilities including:
- Phonological therapy
- Language therapy
- Fluency shaping techniques
- Voice therapy
- Social skills training
- Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies
- PROMPTTM
- Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC)
Speech Therapy sessions are provided in a private office at school or in the community. Each of our students also receive group sessions through our "Lunch Bunch" and "Friendship Class" programs. During Lunch Bunch students try a variety of foods where our speech therapist utilizes the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding in a group setting. Friendship Class focuses on group social/emotional learning with gameplay, tolerating winning & losing, peer interactions and cooperative play.
