Counseling Services

At The Shirley Aninias School, we want to ensure that the social-emotional needs of our students are being supported as best as we can. Emotional regulation is a key component of our students’ success, and counseling services can serve as a key component in achieving this goal. Counseling services are available as requested, and are all provided by a New York State Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Sessions are provided on a 1:1 or group basis, depending on the needs that are being targeted. Counseling sessions can help address anxiety, depression, anger and frustration, and more. The sessions are play-based and typically work on developing self-awareness and gaining perspective, building social-emotional skills and healthy coping strategies, practicing and roleplaying social scenarios, building a healthy sense of self and working on self-confidence.
